Dare to Dream…Act?
I’m a Australian teenage girl and im in love with acting. I don’t know what it is but I just love it. I’ve been doing FAME (Musical Theatre Company) since grade 2.Gosh 6 years (long time I know), and ever since my very first lesson I have always wanted to be an actress (well I wanted to be one before the lesson… but once I was in the lesson I was hooked) The only thing is now I’m not doing FAME (finished at the end of last year) because I want to purse more acting. This is when I looked around and I found the AAA (Australian Acting Academy) but mum says we might not have enough money to do it. I almost died when I heard her say that.
Later when I went to a parent teacher interview with mum, we saw my drama teacher said that I had huge potential and said that I should get an agent. But then mum said the same thing about the money…. What should I do… I can’t give it up… I won’t give it up…. but I’m stuck and really confused.
Please help.
Everything you just said happened to me too! Almost exactly. And my parents don’t have enough money right now either. So i work for my dad, and i work in the local Arts in the park with children. I do arts and crafts with them and I teach them theater.
I would suggest finding someone close to you that needs someone to work for them. Maybe in you community or someone who belongs to your religious beliefs, if you have any, and even babysittying.
And since acting is my dream and want to pursue it, i wanted to show it off. And another way of doing that, is maybe do an acting camp in the summer for children. There would be a fee to pay. That fee could go toward your tuition for the AAA. I am going to do that. You teach them the basics and such. Then you organize a play for them to do. You have auditions and everything for them and then they get to perform that for their friends and families. You don’t have to do auditons but that would be a great learning experience for them.
